
Our face-to-face training is offered over a 1-week block at the RACV Hobart Hotel. The first 5 days will consist of theory and practical training and the final day will be the practical and theory examinations.
The IWI-B course is a globally recognised International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualification. This course provides general knowledge of welding, inspection theory and application, including:
Participants will need to provide evidence that they can meet the following entry conditions:
Training Pathway 1
This pathway is for those already holding an existing IIW qualification as an International Welding Practitioner (IWP) or a higher IIW qualification. These qualifications will allow those people to proceed directly to the IWI-B course, without having to write the Welding Technology Examination (WTE-B).
Training Pathway 2
This route is applicable to persons who are either a
a) Professional worker (Cert III – Engineering fabrication); or
b) Person having educational backgrounds in material science or engineering; or
c) Have at least two years of professional welding related experience.
AND, have passed the Welding Technology Examination (WTE-B).
WTE-B eligibility - Candidates can opt to take the WTE-B exam based on prior learning or experience, without extra training. However, it's recommended that candidates consider obtaining additional training before attempting the exam. Weld Australia offers an online self-paced training platform with pre-recorded lectures, review questions, and WTE-B notes to assist students. The examination is completed the first Wednesday of every month. Candidates can apply to sit the examination through the Qualification and Certification team by emailing qnc@weldaustralia.com.au

You need to be logged in to bookmark a course, so if you aren't logged in do so by clicking on 'Member Login' in the top right hand corner of this page. If you're not currently a member, you can create a Guest profile instead, which will allow you to bookmark courses as well - just click on 'Membership Application' then on 'Apply Now' and select Guest from the dropdown menu.
Once you're logged in, you can bookmark any course by clicking on the grey 'bookmark' icon next to the course location. The course is bookmarked when the icon turns pink.
